Top Activities To Do On Maui
This list of ‘Top Activites To Do On Maui’ reflects my personal choices for the best ways to experience the island. I have chosen these activities by using a combination of my local knowledge and my years of working in the hospitality industry. All the tour providers here show a great sense of ALOHA and take the words ‘Hawaiian Hospitality’ to heart. It would be nearly impossible to do every activity there is to do on Maui. If you don’t see something on this list that interests you please feel free to peruse all the options on my concierge activity desk site.
Maui Ocean Center is the largest tropical aquarium in the Western Hemisphere, with over 60 exhibits displaying Hawaii’s marine life. You’ll see many animals here that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. A journey through the 54-ft long tunnel in our 750,000-gallon exhibit puts you eye to eye with sharks, rays, and thousands of fish, without getting wet!
Atlantis Submarines: If you are like me and have a fear of the open ocean than seeing the beauty of Maui’s reefs from the inside a submarine is the way to go. This is a great family activity. Discover nature’s deepest treasures…the miracle of coral gardens and indigenous creatures that dwell in Hawaii’s ocean wilderness.
2) BICYCLE TOURS
Mountain Riders: One thing that I think is a MUST DO on Maui is to watch the sunrise from the top of the volcano. It is one of the most breathtaking sights ever. Combining this natural phenomena with a thrilling bike ride down the volcano is one of Maui’s most popular activities. I suggest you schedule this now for the first few days of your vacation. Take advantage of your jet lag by doing this once in a lifetime activity.
3) SUNSET CRUISE
Aloha Friday Sunset Sail: Unwind from the day and enjoy an authentic Aloha Friday as we sail along the West Maui coastline surrounding Ka’anapali. Trilogy only offers this trip once a week. So book now to make sure you have a spot.
4) ECO TOURS
Hike Maui: There is more to Maui than the beach! Go get muddy in the jungle or hike into the world’s largest dormant volacano for at least one day during your trip. The hike that I am suggesting you do with a guide is the 4 mile day hike in and out of the crater of Haleakala. There are few places in the world where you can actually go into a volcanic crater, it is like going to another planet! Most of the waterfall hikes you can figure out how to do on your own but for a hike like this I really suggest you go with someone who has experience with the area.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is the premiere helicopter tour company in Hawaii with a unique blend of cultural excursions to the Big Island, Maui, Kauai & now Oahu. Remote waterfalls…velvet green valleys…ancient cinder cones…pristine mountain pools…Hawaiian legends…Escape into the hidden beauty of Hawaii with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.
6) HORSEBACK RIDING
The Grand Luau at the Honua’ula: A short 5 minute drive from our property and also very popular choice. Come and enjoy the magical enchantment of Honua’ula. Hawaiian style music provides a tropical ambiance as you enjoy a breathtaking Maui sunset. As the village comes to life with Hawaiian games, lei making, crafts and tattoos, you will witness the Hawaii of old and new. The lighting of the torches and the sound of a conch shell invites you to experience a luau style buffet, offering a variety of Hawaiian favorites including Sautéed Island Fish, Imu Baked Kalua Pig, Poi and Taro rolls. The show start and creates and exciting evening of traditional chant and hula bringing the history of our island home Maui, to life. The show ends leaving you filled with the magic of the Hawaiian island of Maui.
8) SNORKELING & SAILING ADVENTURES
Trilogy Excurisions: One of the longest running businesses here on Maui. They are the best in the business. This trip will take you to the island of Lanai and snorkeling in its pristine waters. You can expect to see an abundance of tropical fish- a few found nowhere else in the world. Escape the crowds of Molokini and do a little island hopping in the process.
Skyline Eco-Adventures owns, operates, and franchises leading zipline adventures on Maui, the Big Island and Kauai in Hawaii. Since 2002, when Skyline opened the United States original zipline adventure in Maui, Skyline has safely conducted nearly two million customer zipline crossings, more than any other U.S. based zipline company. Throughout our zipline tours guests learn about the unique environment and culture of the places in which Skyline operates; and a portion of all sales are donated back to protecting those irreplaceable things.
I love the Haleakala course! The last line is the best!
